Thank you for stopping by our volunteer page! At Help-Portrait Baltimore we’re seeking as many volunteers as we can pull together to make the Help Portrait experience the best we can. What kind of people are we looking for? Well, we have a few must have requirements to join the group.
- You must be alive!!! I know, this is a tough one but it’s really important.
- You must be available on December 3rd, 2016. This is the main Help-Portrait day for 2016 and it’s really when we need the most help.
- You should enjoy having fun and doing something good for someone else.
That’s it! If you meet those three requirements, we can use you! Now that you’re on board, where are the serving opportunities?
There are three primary areas where we need help. They are Photographers & Photo Editors, Hair & Makeup Artists, and Hospitality.
Photographers & Photo Editors
As a Photographer or Photo Editor for Help-Portrait, you’ll be taking photos or editing photos. Pretty easy right? We’ll be honest, it can be challenging. It can get crazy and hectic. But, it is a ton of fun. As a Photographer, you should have a camera, portable lights and triggers at a minimum. If you have a solid backdrop and backdrop stand as well, we consider that a bonus.
Photo Editors should have a solid understanding of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, color correction and printing. Speed is key, so learning “on the job” isn’t really an option. Do you have your own laptop & card reader with Lightroom already installed? Major bonus points.
Our photographers and editors work together to deliver final printed images to the clients. We want to deliver the best product we can, and would love your help!
Hair & Makeup Artists
Our Hair Stylists & Makeup Artists help our clients look their best. If you have a passion for or are skilled at making others look amazing, we want you!
Our hospitality team is probably the most important team we have. This team greets people when they enter, instructs clients on what they can expect, and guides them through the day. The team also handles any issues that come up, waiting areas, crafts and games, food and everything else that makes the day special. People on this team should love people and be able to love on people. We’re looking for people that are great at organizing, great at going with the flow and great at adding that little something extra that makes the day great.
The hospitality team is made up of these general jobs –
Greeter: Your smiling face will be the first thing people see when they come in. Your warm welcome will help them feel at home. You will also help guide them to the proper location.
Check in Table: At the check in table we will collect the photo release forms and have people sign in. We then will direct them to the next location, whether that is hair & make up, the photographer, or to hang out in the food/beverage area for a while until it gets closer to their turn. Attention to detail is important to make sure that we get the paperwork right.
Crowd Control: Somewhere between greeter and bouncer we have the folks who will help guide traffic. You’ll make sure that crowds don’t get backed up waiting for make up or their turn in front of the camera. You’ll help guide them to the right place and make sure everyone stays happy with the smile on your face.
Food/Beverage: In the food and beverage area you’ll make sure those waiting always have something to drink and snack on. Some of these people will be waiting for their turn in front of the camera, and some will have just finished. You’ll have time to talk to the people and hear their story. Their stories are such a huge part of why we do Help-Portrait. Prepare to be moved and walk away with a new outlook. Some locations will have craft and games, if appropriate for the crowd.
